The 2015 National Lord’s Taverners Indoor Cricket Championship at Strathpine, QLD held from July 25 – August 2 was an amazing experience for the NSW team.
In a competition that continues to produce some outstanding cricket, this year was no exception. The standard being at such a level the organizers presented the game through their live online coverage to great response for the cricket loving public.
NSW did their State proud. In every game the team was competitive and took skins in every contest. In particular the game against the strong Victorian team came down to the final over and only a desperate grab on the back net by Victorian skipper taking our victory away.
In the Australian team, NSW were represented by newcomer Nathan Nunn, whose selection was assured by some outstanding games. Nathan scored over 200 runs for the competition and his fielding and bowling were the reason NSW was constantly in the competition.
For MR. NSW, Michael Bartels, the competition was another one to be proud of. Michael has been a competitor since 1999 and again played an amazing role for the team. Not just by his work on the field but Michael brings that sense of fun and team which motivates and glues a team together.
Next year brings some exciting innovations to the National competition, with the big stage at Hisense arena and a greater commitment from the State bodies – the future for this competition looks bright.
That NSW are able to be part of this competition every year is a testament to the commitment of Lord’s Taverners NSW branch, whose support underpins the viability of the team. Without this support the team would not be able to compete.
The team would also like to thank Indoor Sports NSW for their support and fighting for the team to be part of the NSW contingent. For the players, coaching and support staff the competition was an amazing experience, one that defines the players as the sportsmen they are. It is these life moments that shape us into who we become. What an amazing journey.
President Geoff Lawson presented team members their shirts and Chairman Roger Ringwood their caps ahead of the event.
