Congratulations to the Chairman of the Northern NSW Branch, Stan Gilchrist on his award of an OAM in the Australia Day Honours List 2015. Stan founded the Branch in August 2009 and became its first Chairman. Stan has been the driving force behind the Branch activities which are many and varied. These include T20 cricket competitions in Secondary Schools, fund raising events, weekly dinners for the residents of Our House in Lismore, relationships with businesses throughout the Branch’s wide area, student scholarships at SCU and UNE, sponsorships to fund these scholarships and scholarships for youngsters to play cricket in the UK for the 5 month season. Knowing he could not do everything himself, Stan has gathered a band of like- minded Taverners to assist him and has delegated responsibilities wisely. The Branch, as well as many of its members, is very active and shows no sign of flagging. In late
2014 Stan led small groups from Lismore to Taree, Inverell and Narrabri to spread the name and what it stands for. Although it’s early days, the signs are good for more members for the Branch. From all of us, Stan, congratulations on your achievements and the Award.
