NEW LORD’S TAVERNERS NATIONAL PRESIDENT

Our new National President

At the National Council meeting in Port Stephens in February 2015 The Council elected former Test Cricketer Paul Sheahan AM as the new National President to replace John Lill who has now retired after 15 years in the role

Paul Sheahan had a distinguished First Class cricket career which included over 170 games. A talented right-hand batsman and excellent fieldsman, Paul Sheahan played 31 Tests between 1967 and 1974, scoring 1594 runs at 33.91, including two centuries. Seemingly on the verge of becoming Australia’s regular Test opening batsman, Mr Sheahan retired at the relatively young age of 27 to concentrate on his teaching career. Paul has had a long involvement with cricket including the Presidency of the Melbourne Cricket Club from 2011 to 2015. He is well credentialed for his new role as he was President of the Lord’s Taverners Victoria from 2000 until he accepted this position.

In accepting his role Paul paid tribute to John Lill for his leadership of the Lord’s Taverners Australia over 15 years and the manner in which he has ensured a strong national organisation with a solid foundation at branch level.
