Dear Taverners,
Merry Christmas to all as we approach the end of a hugely different year. The world changed for everybody and if covid 19 was not enough we had the year bookended by bushfires and now torrential rains in northern NSW and southern Queensland regions. It will be great to start a fresh in 2021.
I congratulate John and Judy McLaughlin, as well as Rick McCosker as our newest Life Members in the Hunter region. They have provided wonderful leadership to the branch and region and we are all the better for their contributions.
Test cricket has returned to our screens and those who watched carefully last night, will have noticed the Taverners logo electronically imposed on the playing surface from time to time during the broadcast. We have been negotiating with Cricket Australia for some time and this was one of the negotiating points. The logo has produced a small donation via the website already. Sunny Drury is coordinating a social media program during the Test directing readers to the raffle site. We understand CA will repost, our posts, so hopefully this will significantly increase volumes for us.
National Raffle
The raffle is live, and we have passed $22,000 in gross sales, so a great start and of those sales over $9,000 in electronic sales. The electronic version is working well and we are learning a lot about conducting this side of the raffle.
I still have plenty of paper tickets available if required and can issue electronic codes as required.
Cricket Australia
We are in discussions still, regarding a new agreement. The CA legal team have become somewhat caught up with the dispute with Channel 7, but I do expect a draft before Christmas.
The agreement will cover:
Several other items I will discuss when the agreement arrives for our consideration.
CA has had many internal issues with Game Development division losing very significant budget allocation and as a result Belinda Clark resigned to pursue other interests.
Belinda’s position has not been filled nor has the role of GM Corporate Affairs. Adam Cassidy has moved from Game Development to a role within Communication, but his responsibilities have not changed!!! Where we report is unknown. So, in many ways the year has ended as it started with CA.
CA provided 4, A class tickets to the first day of the Boxing Day Test and we were able to find a purchaser for them and pocket the proceeds. Thanks, Adam Cassidy, for making it happen.

This has been a year like no other and lets all work to make 2021 a year when we return to holding functions and raising much needed funds to support those who desperately require our support.
We have our zoom conference on Saturday 20th February at 1.00 pm Melbourne time for 4 hours and I look forward to seeing you all then. Michael will issue an agenda during January.
Have a safe and happy Christmas.
Regards
JJ
